Geneva, SANA – The delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic, headed by Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, arrived in Geneva on Sunday to participate in the seventh round of the intra-Syrian dialogue which will kick off in the Swiss city on Monday.
The sixth round of Geneva talks concluded on May 19th, during which the Syrian Arab Republic delegation held a number of sessions of talks with the Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura that focused on experts’ meetings without addressing any of the four baskets that were discussed in previous rounds.
The fifth round of the intra-Syrian dialogue wrapped up on March 31st, where the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic presented several papers throughout eight days to the UN Special Envoy to Syria, the first of which was on counterterrorism, while another one was on general principles for a political solution in Syria. However, the platforms of “the opposition” did not reply to any of the papers. The fourth round of the dialogue ended on March 3th where it was agreed upon an agenda of four baskets: counterterrorism, the governing, the constitution and the elections.
