Kazakh Foreign Ministry: Bilateral meetings in Astana will focus on defining borders of de-escalation zones in Syria

Moscow, SANA – Kazakh Foreign Ministry announced that the bilateral meetings among the delegations participating in 2nd day of 5th Astana meeting on Syria will focus on defining the borders of the de-escalation zones in Syria.

Ministry spokesman Anuar Zhainakov told reporters on Wednesday that the negotiations started and the bilateral meetings are underway as the main topic is defining the borders of these zones.

Zhainakov added that the plenary session will start at 04:00 (Astana local time), asserting that all delegations are expected to
participate in that session, including the guarantor countries as well as the representatives of the “armed opposition.”

The delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic, headed by Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, has held two separate meetings with the Russian and Iranian delegations in the framework of the two-day Astana meeting which kicked off at the Kazakh capital on Tuesday.
