Peace and Love art forum concludes activities with exhibition

Lattakia, SANA – The “Peace and Love” art forum concluded its 15 days of activities on with an exhibition held on Tuesday at La Mera Hotel in Lattakia, showcasing dozens of the oil paintings and wood sculptures created during the event.

The paintings of participating artists drew inspiration from the environment around them, with Syria prevailing as the major theme and subject of most works, with emphasis on sentimental and humane conditions.

Artist Sa’ad Yakan from Aleppo showcased a large mural titled “crowd and butterfly” that focuses on the humanitarian crisis, moving from a state of crisis to a state of hope symbolized by butterflies seeking an end to the darkness.

The ten sculptures produced by the artists used olive wood, showcasing various styles and themes including Syrian mythology which was embodied in the sculpture “celebrations of Ishtar” by Issa Salameh, while the sculpture of Ruba al-Kenj depicted a winged woman ready to take flight, while other artists opted for more abstract approaches.

A large mural consisting of oil paintings by participating artists was also unveiled during the exhibition, creating a mixture of harmonious artistic elements. Forum supervisor Suhail Baddour said that this mural is a symbolic gift from the participating artists to President Bashar al-Assad.

The forum began its activities on June 5th with the participation of 30 artists from different provinces who worked at La Mira Hotel. The proceeds of this event will go to the families of martyrs and injured personnel of the Syrian Arab Army.
