Patriarch Laham calls for establishing Arab army to confront terrorism

Beirut, SANA – Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for Melkite Greek Catholic Gregorios III Laham called on the Arab countries to shoulder their responsibilities in confronting takfiri mentality which is invading the Arab region through terrorist organizations.

At a press conference in Beirut on Monday, the Patriarch called for establishing an Arab army to repel terrorism imposed on Christians and Muslims.

“So many Christians and Muslims from Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt had immigrated out of fear, but in Iraq they were forced to leave their homes at the hands of (ISIS) terrorists,” the Patriarch said.

He pointed out that preparations are underway to launch a project in Damascus next September to hold days of prayers and fasting in all churches.
