Festivity organized on occasion of International Workers’ Day

Damascus Countryside, SANA – The General Federation of Trade Unions organized on Monday a festivity at Sahara complex in Damascus Countryside to mark International Workers’ Day.

In a speech at the event, Assistant Regional Secretary of Al-Baath Arab Socialist Party Hilal al-Hilal said that this occasion is an opportunity to improve performance to rise to the challenges facing society, noting that the current stage is a decisive one on which the future of Syria, the reigon, and international relations hinges.

For his part, Chairman of the General Federation of Trade Unions Jamal al-Qaderi said that International Workers’ Day commemorates the achievements and struggles of the working class and honors their efforts, asserting that work and productivity is the main line of defense for the people of any country, and that the working class always was and always will be an essential ally for the Syrian Arab Army which is valiantly fighting Syria’s enemies.

In turn, Industry Minister Ahmad al-Hamo said that the efforts and sacrifices of the working class are essential in achieving steadfastness and victory, noting that workers in Syria have been targeted by terrorists, and many of them lost their lives while working, adding that the government is committed to improving the situation of workers despite the difficult conditions.

Al-Hamo also lauded the important role of some private sector businessmen who remained steadfast despite terrorist acts against their facilities and kept their workers employed.
