Deir Ezzor, SANA – Deir Ezzor Governor Mohammad Ibrahim Samra refuted the claims made by some websites and social media pages about the spread of contagions and diseases due to contamination of water in the ISIS-besieged eastern neighborhoods of Deir Ezzor city.
The Governor said that there are no recorded cases that indicate the presence of any endemics or gastrointestinal or dermatological diseases caused by water, affirming that the local branch of the General Establishment for Water and Sanitations has a plentiful supply of purifying agents that are periodically airdropped by Syrian Arab Army helicopters in the eastern neighborhoods.
He went on to note that last week 10 boxes containing pills for purifying water were airdropped in the province, and that the Governorate airdrops on semi-daily basis purifying agents and along with around1,500 bread bundles and assorted food supplies in the eastern neighborhoods where around 1,300 families are living.
The people of the eastern neighborhoods of Deir Ezzor have been besieged by ISIS for more than three months after the terrorists cut off the road connecting them to the rest of the city.
