Moscow, SANA – Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hadiyeh Abbas affirmed on Wednesday that the US aggression on the Syrian territory is a clear indication of the partnership between the United States and terrorist groups.
In a speech she delivered at a work meeting with the Russian Federation Council in Moscow, Abbas said the barbaric US aggression against a Syrian airbase that plays a key role in fighting ISIS terrorist organization is a conclusive evidence of the effective partnership between the United States and terrorist groups.
She conveyed the greetings of President Bashar al-Assad and the Syrian people to the friendly Russian leadership, headed by President Vladimir Putin, and the Russian people for all their support for Syria in the face of the terrible terrorist war waged against it.
She added that Syrian and Russian achievements against international terrorism have formed a turning point in the course of the war on terrorism, noting that these field achievements have pushed the political process forward and accelerated political dialogues.
She expressed her regret that some Western countries, led by the United States, France, Britain, and some regional countries such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar continue to support the terrorists and provide them with weapons and money
with the aim of destroying the Syrian state and imposing their own conditions that achieve their interests at the expense of the Syrian people.
She affirmed that the positive effects of the historical relations between Syria and Russia have reached beyond the bilateral level to the level of entire region and the world in terms of acting like the pivot of positive change in the world in favor of more balance on the international arena and establishing world peace and stability.
“We know that it is a long way to go and the sacrifices will be great, but I can assure you that whoever bet on the victory against terrorism are truly victorious, and you should be confident that we are victorious because we defend the right and the national and international legitimacy,” she said.
Abbas called on the world to join the Russian-Syrian cooperation in the fight against terrorism before it is too late, because the fire of terrorism, which is expanding in the region, will not remain confined to it.
Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin affirmed that the US aggression against Syria is an act that violates international norms and laws and
serves international terrorism.
Speaking to journalists following his meeting with Abbas and her accompanying delegation, Volodin said the visit of the Syrian People’s Assembly delegation to Russia comes during difficult times after the United States launched an attack against Syria.
He added that it is necessary to verify the facts before launching a missile attack on a sovereign state and a member of the United Nations, noting that the US aggression undermines all political efforts to resolve the crisis in Syria.
He affirmed that Russia is determined to continue its approach in combating terrorism and refusing to interfere in the sovereign affairs of independent countries and that it is taking all necessary steps to achieve a political solution in Syria.
He said that it is necessary to invite members of European parliaments to visit Syria and approach a dialogue with them and with the US parliamentarians, adding that the Syrian People’s Assembly is a legitimate body elected by the Syrian people and is working to fight terrorism, and this is what the Americans, who always speak of democracy, must understand.
