Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society to open school and mobile hospital in Syria

Damascus, SANA – The Grand Mufti of the Republic Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun called on Tuesday for joining efforts in the face of international terrorism that threatens everyone, stressing that Syria’s enemies will not be able to undermine the Syrian people’s unity with their army and leadership.

During a meeting with Head of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society Sergei Stepashin and the accompanying delegation, Hassoun offered condolences to the Russian people on the victims of the terrorist bombings which took place in St. Petersburg’s metro stations, calling on the western countries to stop supporting terrorism.

The Grand Mufti thanked the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society for sending humanitarian aid to Syria.

For his part, Stepashin said that the visit aims at opening a branch of the Society in Damascus and a Russian school that will be built under the auspices of the Society, in addition to the opening of a mobile hospital and medical center to provide primary medical services to those affected by terrorist activities in the city of Aleppo.

Later, Education Minister Hazwan al-Waz met the delegation and discussed with its members the cooperation prospects in the education sector and the adopted steps to open the Russian school in Damascus.

In turn, Health Minister Nizar Yazigi discussed with the delegation the reality of health sector in Syria and the possibilities of cooperation between the two sides to meet medical needs of Syrian people.
