Shaaban: Need for banding together to fight terrorism and Zionism and to restore occupied lands

Damascus, SANA – Presidential Political and Media Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban stressed the need for focusing on banding together to fight terrorism and Zionism in order to restore occupied lands and rights, particularly Palestine.

In a press conference on Saturday after a meeting of the board of trustees of Al-Quds International Foundation which was held in Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus, Shaaban said that defending Al-Quds (Jerusalem) means defending all Arab cities, because the Israeli enemy has been focusing in its strategy on causing division among Arabs.

She pointed out that the vision of the late President Hafez al-Assad was focused on rallying Arab forces because the main goal of America and Israel is to fragment Arab positions, adding that the Israeli enemy doesn’t lose sight of its main goal which is expanding occupation.

Shaaban said that the current stage is critical and decisive, and that the infernal “Arab spring” that was created by certain sides sought to fragment Arab resources and energy and destroy Arab armies.

For his part, Grand Mufti of the Republic Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun said that this year will be pivotal for the Arab, Islamic, and Christian situation, calling for adopting a discourse across Islamic states that moves away from sedition.

He noted that Syria has been paying dearly for its support of the Palestinian people, unlike certain other Arab countries, noting that some Arab countries that don’t share borders with occupied Palestine have received weapons valued at over USD 23 billion this year.
