Tanker carrying one million barrels of crude oil has arrived, says Oil Minister

Damascus, SANA – Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced that the process of unloading the cargo of the oil tanker that carried one million barrels of crude oil has started.

The tanker has arrived earlier today, the Ministry said in a statement issued on Tuesday, noting that the crude oil will be refined once the unloading is finished.

A tangible improvement in the situation of electricity supply will be witnessed in the coming few days after oil amounts necessary for operating power stations have arrived, the statement added.

Director General of the Fuel Company Samir al-Hussein said in a statement to SANA that the needs of the fuel stations that have suffered severe shortages in the past days will be met, stressing that as of next week, the situation will be back to normal.

He affirmed that gas for home use is available in all the provinces, as around 140,000 gas cylinders are produced per day, of which 50,000 cylinders distributed in Damascus and its countryside and 23,000 in Aleppo.

The Syrian cabinet has recently concluded contracts worth SYP 200 billion to compensate for the shortages of the oil products.
