Tehran, SANA – The Syrian delegation to the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) made a number of proposals on denouncing takfiri fatwas and those who issue them, with the participants endorsing these proposals.
The Syrian parliamentary figures constituting the delegation, along with counterparts from Lebanon, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Indonesia, discussed the need for the meeting to come out with firm decisions against the takfiri terrorist organizations operating in the region.
They also called for taking decisive action against the supporters of those organizations and finding means to confront the terrorism which is threatening the social fabric and cultural heritage of the region’s countries.
The Syrian delegation, headed by Yousef Mahmoud Asaad, took part in the special discussions of the Standing Committee, during which they put forth proposals on considering takfiri mentality as alien to Islam, thereby censuring all takfiri fatwas.
The Syrian MPs focused on the need to highlight the dangers of the takfiri fatwas and work with the Asian and international parliaments to prevent any support for such harmful activities.
The APA Standing Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs started its activities on Monday.
