Armed group blows up religious shrine in rural Salamiya, Hama

Hama, SANA – An armed group has blown up a religious shrine in rural Salamiya located in the Syrian central province of Hama.

A source at Hama Police Command recounted the details of the attack, saying an armed group has rigged with explosives the Sheikh Abdul-Kader al-Jilani tomb in Kherbet Zainab village in Salamiya eastern countryside before blowing it up.

A civilian and his son whom the terrorist group had tied up inside the shrine before blowing it up were killed in the blast which reduced the shrine to a pile of rubble, according to the source.

Terrorists have been following a pattern of attacks against religious sites and shrines across Syria in a bid to inflame passions and deepen divisions.
