Homs governor meets UNICEF delegation: Children deeply traumatized by current crisis

Homs, SANA – The current crisis has left a negative mark on the Syrian children, especially those whose educational attainment, and consequently their future, was affected, Homs governor Talal al-Barazi said.

Al-Barazi was speaking during his meeting with a delegation from UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund.

“Unfair exploitation of children by terrorist groups and forcing them into bearing arms have negatively impacted their future and lives,” the governor said, citing a need to keep children away from all issues that involve violence.

UNICEF representative in Syria Youssef Abdul-Jalil, for his part, elaborated on the organization’s efforts and cooperation with the Education Ministry for preparing curricula, posters and brochures dedicated for raising children’s awareness in all domains.

In a relevant context, Homs governor noted, during the inauguration ceremony of a children’s exhibition on the impacts of war leftovers which UNICEF’s representative attended, the importance of the exhibition in raising awareness about the effects of terrorist acts that have rocked some safe areas and villages in the province.
