DAMASCUS, (SANA)– Engineer Madian Safi won the best invention prize in the field of environment and the second prize in the field of technological innovation and invention in an Arab competition held in Tunisia by the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO).
The prize Safi received was a medal and an amount of USD 6000.
In a statement to SANA economic bulletin, Safi said his invention is about producing high-price products used in dental fillings and treatment of osteoporosis and other by-products through transforming Syrian phosphate and its residues into highly saturated solution.
He explained that the economic feasibility of this invention is ten times more than what can be obtained when selling raw phosphate.
Safi was the only Syrian to participate in the ALESCO competition among 17 Arab inventors. He was awarded a patent from the Ministry of Economy and Trade in 2009 and was twice honored by the Indian Society of Applied Geochemistry and at the International Metals Conference in India.
