TEHRAN, (SANA) – Assistant Minister of Economy and Trade, Khaled Sallouteh, on Saturday discussed with the Iranian Assistant Minister of Economy for Development of Economic Relations and Director General of the Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization, Hamid Safdel, the executive program of the free trade agreement between the two countries due to be signed.
In a press statement, Sallouteh pointed out that his visit to Iran is aimed at intensifying cooperation between the two countries and setting the executive steps for the free trade agreement between Syria and Iran signed last year.
He added that the agreement aims at enhancing trade exchange and activating the trade movement between both country, pointing out that the agreement provides for decreasing customs fees from both countries by 20 % every year for five year.
Sallouteh noted that the Iranian side granted preferential benefits valued at USD 1 billion to a number of Syrian products by decreasing customs fees on them by 60 %, which came into effect since mid December 2011.
He added that it was agreed with the Iranian officials, during their latest visit to Syria, to hold a fair for Syrian products in Tehran to introduce them to the Iranian businessmen, industrialists and citizens so that to make agreements and trade deals between both sides. The fair is scheduled to be held on April 28, 2012.
