Cairo, SANA – Tourism Minister Bishr Yazigi asserted that the Syrian government is working diligently to restore security, provide all the needs of citizens and visitors, and restore life to the entirety of the country.
In a statement to SANA’s correspondent in Cairo during his participation in 39th meeting of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Commission for the Middle East on Sunday, Yazigi said that the methodical destruction inflicted upon the tourism sector in Syria at the hands of terrorism is beyond anything that ever happened anywhere else in the world.
He said that the Syrian delegation participating in the meeting will relay to the members of the 13 other participating delegations the reality of what is happening to the tourism sector in Syria at the hands of terrorism, noting that the current events in the Middle East pose a risk to the tourism sector in it which requires taking steps to combat terrorism.
During the meeting, Minister Yazigi made a proposal on dealing with the threat posed by terrorism to the tourism sector not only in the region, but in the entire world.
