Sept. 10, Syrian athlete Ghada Shou’a winner of gold medal in Atlanta Olympic Games born

1994- General Assembly of the United Nations recognizes the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty.
2002- Switzerland, known for being neutral, joins the United Nations.
2003- An extremist stabs Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh, known for her pro-Palestinian stance, during doing shopping in Stockholm. She died the next day.
1972- Syrian athlete Ghada Shou’a, who won a golden medal in Olympic Games
in Atlanta, 1996, born.
1979- Agostinho Neto, the first President of Angola, passes away.
