Damascus, SANA-The financial losses that affected industry sector in Damascus countryside because of the terrorist acts were estimated at 32.530 billion SYP that hit 251 companies, Industrial Directorate at Damascus countryside province said in a report to SANA Monday.
Industry director at the province Ibrahim Bukae’e said the value of losses, adopted by the Ministry of local Administration, was distributed among 28 companies in the food sector, 55 engineering companies, 86 companies specialized in textiles, 85 chemical companies and 7 companies of medicine.
He pointed out to a drop in the number of work between 75 to 80 % which badly affected the volume of sales and a decrease in the volume of industrial investments.
Bukae’e also affirmed that the industry sector is suffering from difficulties in ensuring infrastructure like energy resources, electricity and oil due to the sabotage acts surrounding the province, particularly in the unsafe areas which led to suspension of many companies and factories.
He suggested a number of urgent solutions to avoid the stop of industry sector like specifying the strategic industries including medicine, kids’ food, fertilizers and other basic industries, calling for providing a collective protection for the industrial facilities.
