Damascus, SANA – Under the patronage of Mrs. Asma al-Assad, a graduation ceremony for the third batch of students of the National Center for Excellent Students was held at Damascus University auditorium.
Minister of Education Hazwan al-Waz delivered a speech during the ceremony in which he stressed that the homeland “is looking forward for a young generation that is equipped with skills, expertise and capabilities needed for development, innovation and excellence.”
“It has been five years since the center was opened, during which period the students proved their excellence, and that they deserved to be enrolled in it,” the Minister added.
He highlighted the teaching staff’s efforts in offering all necessary assistance to the students and providing them with all educational services, “which has helped make the whole experience a great success.”
Al-Waz pointed out that these excellent students are “the hope of the homeland inasmuch as they are the ones to reconstruct it and build its future.”
Director of the National Center for Excellent Students Iskander Munif said that the center constitutes “an incubator for excellence and creation” as it motivates students to reach high levels, indicating that the achievements that have been made so far would not have been possible without the great support and care of President Bashar al-Assad and the supervision of Mrs. Asma al-Assad
He also praised the efforts exerted by the ministries of Education and Higher Education and teaching staff members in fully performing their duties despite all the difficulties and challenges facing them under the ongoing terrorist war in the country.
Some of the graduates expressed gratitude for all the people who supported them to continue their educational attainment, stressing determination “to go all the way, face all the difficulties and contribute to building the homeland.”
“Hard work is the bridge to achieve all goals,” said Bassam Salim Sharbel, one of the graduates.
The ceremony included displaying a documentary film about the center’s history since its inception till now.
Since 2009, the center has worked on building excellent students into well-qualified professional cadres within an environment that cares for nurturing excellence and improving capabilities and skills.
