Damascus, SANA-The Bar Association has slammed a recent report issued by the Geneva-based United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), considering it “an ultimate proof of complicity in the war waged against Syria.”
The UN human rights body issued a report on August 13, which is due to be put to discussion at the Council in Mid-September, in which it puts the Syrian government’s counter-terrorism measures at an equal footing with the acts of terrorists.
“The legal and ethical wording of the report betrayed an outrageous lack of objectivity and credibility, as it equates between terrorists and those who are fighting them,” the Association said in a statement.
The report, moreover, showed that the Council had gone to extremes in approaching the unfolding events in Syria, added the statement.
Concluding its statement, the Associations urged the UN body to be “up to the ethical and human level in dealing with the Syrian people and government, so as to ensure that its founding principles are well served.”
