Beirut, SANA – The so-called Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization claimed responsibility for kidnapping 40 Fijian personnel from the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF), according to the American Search for International Terrorist Entities (SITE) Intelligence Group.
The AFP said that in a statement quoted by SITE on Saturday, al-Nusra terrorist organization affirmed that “the kidnapped personnel are in a safe place and in a good health condition, and food and treatment are provided to them.”
A source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday that terrorist organizations kidnapped 43 UNDOF personnel, affirming that the crime of kidnapping the UN personnel is not the first perpetrated by the armed terrorist organizations against the UN force.
The source added that the Syrian government holds the terrorist organizations and the sides backing them fully responsible for the safety of the kidnapped soldiers and demands their immediate release, added the source.
