CCEE condemns terrorist acts against Christians in Iraq

Vienna, SANA – The Council of European Bishops’ Conferences  (CCEE)  condemned the crimes perpetrated by the so-called al-Qaeda-linked the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham of displacing and killing the Christians and some other minorities in Iraq and the Middle East.

In a statement issued Sunday, the Commission called on the international community to immediately interfere to save the Christians and the other minorities from the extermination and displacement process and to protect the children and the women.

The Union of the Orient Christians with the participation of Christian unions staged a rally in Vienna calling for stopping the terrorist acts against the Christians in the Middle East, particularly in Syria and Iraq and to put an end to the displacement process.

Earlier the Austrian Foreign Ministry condemned the ISIS crimes in Iraq. Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz expressed deep concern over the deteriorated situation in north of Iraq, calling on the international community to put an end to this deteriorated situation.
