Kuala Lumpur, SANA – Syrian karate player Nour-Eddin al-Kurdi won a silver medal in the 70 kg competitions at 14th Asian Cadet, Junior and U-21 Karate Championships held in Malaysia.
Al-Kurdi was banned from playing in the final game on the pretext of him having an injury, an excuse that was objected to but the objection was refused.
Syrian karate team coach Adnan Lawandi said the injury which al-Kurdi had sustained under his eye could not affect neither his performance nor his health condition, adding that the ban was protested according to the law of the game, yet the objection was dropped.
Yesterday, player Fadi Qara Fallah, 16, won a bronze medal in the 70 kg competitions.
