Moscow, SANA – Russian Foreign Ministry expressed astonishment at London’s and Paris’ calls to stop the counter- terrorism operation launched in Eastern Aleppo under humanitarian pretext, describing the move as an attempt to shelter and rescue terrorists.
Following today’s discussion of a draft resolution on the situation in Syria at the United Nations Security Council, the ministry said in a statement “We would like to express bewilderment at Paris’ and London’s propaganda campaign over their alleged concerns over on-going combat operations in Eastern Aleppo and the delivering of humanitarian aid there,”
“Our ‘worried’ French and British colleagues cannot but know that such aid is already being delivered to Aleppo’s population and it is being done not in words but in real life by the Russian side, in particular by the Russian defense ministry, the Russian Coordination center at Hmeimim and the Russian emergencies ministry,” the Russian foreign ministry stressed.
“Growing calls from a number of Western capitals to stop the counter-terrorism operation in Eastern Aleppo seem to be a desperate attempt to shelter and save terrorists and extremists they are ‘overseeing or those who stop at nothing to reach their ill goals, who are now suffering defeat,” the ministry said, adding “it is they who continue to use civilians as a human shield, to shell and mine civil infrastructure, humanitarian corridors.
