New York, SANA – UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura said that he will submit a framework of proposals as a starting point for resuming the intra-Syrian talks, stressing the importance of initiating direct dialogue among all Syrian sides in the next round.
Speaking at the UN Security Council meeting on Syria, he noted that any plan should ” focus on the basis that the conflict in Syria can’t be resolved militarily, but only through a political negotiating process and in accordance with the UN Security Council resolution No.2254.
He added that the UN, during previous rounds of talks, found that there are common points between all Syrian sides on political transition and the future of Syria.
