Russian Defense Ministry supports de Mistura proposal on a truce in Aleppo for 48 hours per week

Geneva, SANA- UN special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura called for announcing a humanitarian truce in Aleppo for 48 hours per week.

 “On behalf of UN Secretary General, a 48-hours truce should be declared in Aleppo as a first step,” de Mistura said at a press conference in Geneva,” adding that the working group concerned in the cessation of hostilities agreement will discuss this issue today.

 Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry said it supports de Mistura proposal.

 “The Russian side suggests sending humanitarian convoys not only to the eastern neighborhoods which are controlled by terrorist organizations, but also to the western areas, controlled by the Syrian army,” Igor Konachenkov, Spokesperson of the Russian Defense Ministry said.
