Activities of the Gate of the Sun Festival kick off in Tartous

Tartous, SANA- Activities of the Gate of the Sun Festival kicked off Wednesday at the Golden Sands Complex in the coastal city of Tartous.

The Festival is organized by Acuity Company in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and Tartous Sports Union and lasts till August 19th.

Chairwoman of the Coastal Region Chamber of Tourism Sonia Razzouk said that holding tourist festivals will activate the tourist movement, emphasizing the importance of such festivals in marketing Syria’s tourist potentials despite all
the terrorist’s attempts to destroy them.

For his part, Director of Tartous Tourist Directorate Yazan al-Sheikh said that the Festival aims at conveying a peace message from Syria to the whole world, adding that Syria will always remain the cradle of civilizations, the center of beauty and the gate of the sun.

Executive Director of Acuity Company Hussam al-Nafakh said that the festival carries a message for the whole world that Syria is the cradle of civilizations, adding that the first Olympiad in history was held in Amrit Stadium.

Al-Nafakh pointed out that the Festival was expanded this year to include Tartous and
Lattakia, hoping that it will include Aleppo and Damascus next year.

The festival includes various entertainment and sport activities including beach soccer, sail boat show, Jet Ski race, basketball and volleyball, artistic evenings, fashion shows and electing the festival beauty queen and launching the construction of a Phoenician ship.
