Muscat, SANA – Grand Mufti of the Syrian Arab Republic Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun on Thursday reviewed with Omani Justice Minister the latest developments at the Syrian arena and the achievements of the Syrian Arab Army for eradicating terrorism.
The two sides discussed the role of the Muslim scholars in highlighting the real image of Islam, which calls for tolerance and fraternity in a way that serves the whole humanity.
Mufti Hassoun hailed the role of the Omani leadership and people in spreading the values of fraternity and tolerance among the people of the Arab and Islamic nations.
On Wednesday, the latest developments in Syria were the main topic of talks held between Mufti Hassoun, and the Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf bin Alawai and Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs Abdullah al-Salmi.
Mufti Hassoun presented a detailed review on the Syrian crisis, victories achieved by the Syrian Arab army in its battle against terrorism, and the positive outcomes of local reconciliations across the country.
On Tuesday, Mufti Hassoun met Omani Deputy Prime Minister for cabinet’s affairs Fahd bin Mahmoud al-Saeed where the two sides discussed current circumstances in Syria and the conspiracy plotted against it.
The Grand Mufti expressed “the Syrian people’s appreciation” for Sultanate of Oman’s moderate approach, positive positions towards Arab and Islamic issues and stances in support of Syria and the Syrian people.
In turn, the Omani Deputy Prime Minister stressed his country’s keenness to support sincere efforts exerted to restore stability to Syria in a way which serves the interests of all Syrians.
The talks also reviewed the role of Muslim scholars in illustrating the real image of Islam and its message in consolidating fraternity and tolerance among nations, in addition to highlighting the importance of strengthening dialogue and understanding between different peoples and cultures in order to enhance noble values, reject violence and bolster co-existence in a safe world.
Mufti Hassoun also met the Omani Mufti and Head of the Supreme Court within the framework of the official visit he began to the Sultanate of Oman on Monday.
