UNESCO establishes fund to restore Palmyra

Moscow, SANA – Permanent Delegate of the Russian Federation to UNESCO Eleonora Mitrofanova announced on Tuesday that the organization established exceptional fund to return the situation in Palmyra city to normal.

“UNESCO established an exceptional emergency fund for Palmyra to which the donations will be provided by the member countries”, Mitrofanova said at a press conference in Moscow.

She considered that the return of the situation in Palmyra to its normal will be probably through funds outside the organization’s budget, pointing out that the fund has received
until now about 2.7 million Euro.

A Russian military source announced that a total of 100 Russian military engineers and dog trainers will be sent to Syria to help demine Palmyra.
