Geneva, SANA – Jessy Chahine, spokeswoman for the UN Special Envoy for Syria, announced on Tuesday that the participants in the upcoming Geneva intra-Syrian talks will be the same who attended the first round early February.
The talks are scheduled to be resumed tomorrow Wednesday after they were suspended by Envoy Staffan de Mistura on February 3th.
Head of the Syrian Arab Republic’s delegation to the talks, Bashar al-Jaafari, explained back then that Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar, the operators of the “Riyadh opposition” delegation, were responsible for foiling the Geneva meeting.
Chahine was quoted by Reuters as saying that the talks will be officially resumed on March 9th, noting that “Due to some logistical arrangements, some participants will be arriving on the 12th, 13th and 14th on March.”
Therefore, de Mistura is planning to start substantive talks no later than March 14th, she added.
