Hama, SANA – Hama Governor Ghassan Khalaf discussed with Director of United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in Syria, Michael Kingsley-Nyinah, the situation of Palestinian refugees in Hama province and means to improve their living conditions.
The two sides also discussed the possibility of the Governorate finding two temporary schools for the students of the Palestinian refugee camp in Hama.
Nyinah expressed his appreciation for the support provided by Syrian government and people to the Palestinians who live in Syria, pointing out that education sector forms the main work and activities of UNRWA.
He stressed the need to demolish and rebuild two schools in the refugee camp in Hama due to the structures being old, which requires providing two new schools for students.
In turn, Khalaf said that resolving the problem of the two schools can be done by finding two substitute schools by the Hama Education Directorate, despite the difficulty of this matter for the time being, or through the integration of the two schools’ students into schools that are close to them.
The governor added that Hama province received during the last three years around 600-750 thousand displaced persons from all provinces, noting that many of the province’s schools are used as temporary residential centers.
