Education, Science and Culture Committee discusses cooperation with UNESCO

Damascus, SANA – Members of the National Committee for Education, Science and Culture discussed on Monday means to expand cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and its regional offices.

The Committee stressed the need to urge the UNESCO to organize local activities in Syria to raise awareness about issues related to education, science, culture, and communication, in addition to the need to establish a database of Syrian experts.

Education Minister Hazwan al-Waz said the government’s efforts compliment the UNESCO’s efforts in the #Unite4Heritage initiative, and that the government intends to promote this initiative on the national level.

For his part, Secretary of the Syrian National UNESCO Committee Nidal Hassan reviewed the committee’s activities in 2015 and the activities carried out in cooperation with the UN organization.
