Tehran, SANA- Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian said on Tuesday the statement of the second Vienna meeting on the crisis in Syria adopted essential principle that the Syrian people are the only ones who determine their future, stressing “no one from abroad is allowed to speak or make decisions on behalf of the Syrian people.”
During a meeting with Dr. Adnan Mahmoud, Syria’s ambassador in Tehran, Abdullahian denied statements of Turkish foreign Minister Feridun Sinirlioglu that Vienna 2 meeting on Syria “agreed on non- nomination of President Bashar al-Assad for presidency again”, describing these statements as baseless and untrue.
Abdullahian stressed that President Assad is the legitimate and legal president elected by the Syrian people, noting that launching the political track to resolve the crisis in Syria requires halting the terrorist war on Syria and stop the flow of terrorists into the country.
In turn, Ambassador Mahmoud affirmed that some regional countries like Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar still form a logistic base for the flow of terrorist organizations which supply them with weapons.
He pointed out to the great achievements of the Syrian Arab army in fighting the Islamic state (ISIS) organization and other terrorist organizations with a support from Russia, Iran and the resistance front.
