Russian Foreign Ministry: Unilateral formats cannot help solve Syria crisis

Moscow, SANA-Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stressed that unilateral formats cannot help solve the crisis in Syria.

“We have talked about the need to use the full potential of leading regional and international players, all parties that one way or the other are involved and may make a positive, constructive contribution,” Zakharova said during a press briefing in Moscow.

The spokesperson welcomed the participation of Iran and Egypt in the meeting on Syria scheduled for tomorrow in the Austrian capital Vienna.

Commenting on the statements of the Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Jubeir, Zakahrov described them as “unconstructive and pessimistic,” urging for focus to be put on the efforts to make Vienna meeting a success.

She took a swipe at the US conflicting statements which reflect bungled anti-terrorism plans, reiterating that Russia is open to any effort for ending the crisis in Syria.
