Geneva, SANA- Speaker of the People’s Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Laham discussed with Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Guminsky the parliamentary relations between Syria and Belarus and means to activate them in combating terrorism and extremism.
During the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) meetings in Geneva, Guminsky pointed out to the deep bilateral relations between both countries, stressing that Syria will achieve victory on terrorism soon with the support of Russia.
He noted that the US is interfering in the internal affairs of countries to subvert society and whip up internal problems, citing what happened already in Syria and Belarus and stressing the inadmissibility of interference in the internal affairs of states under any excuse.
For his part, al-Laham affirmed the necessity of enhancing efforts to combat terrorism and extremism and confronting the attempts of some states to impose their political agenda over the world.
The 133rd Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly concluded on Wednesday its activities which continued for four days, with the participation of Syria’s delegation.
The participants discussed issues of refugee crisis, terrorism, international security and peace, democracy, human rights, and sustainable development.
