500 wanted people had their legal status settled in Damascus Countryside

Damascus, SANA –In the framework of national reconciliation, more than 500 wanted people in Kanaker town in the southern countryside of Damascus had their legal status settled on Sunday after they had turned themselves in along with their arms to the authorities.

This reconciliation which included more than 500 armed and wanted persons was as a result of integration of roles played by the government, reconciliation committees and notable figures in Kanaker town which aimed at enhancing security and stability and restoring normal life to the town and the nearby villages.

Governor of Damascus Countryside Hussein Makhlouf said in a press release that this reconciliation is the first step towards the full returning of locals to “the lap of the homeland,” noting that these settlements coincided with releasing a number of detainees by the authorities.

“ Damascus Countryside is making intensive efforts to promote reconciliation, rebuilding and rehabilitation of areas over which the Syrian Army establishes control in cooperation with other parties in the province”, Makhlouf added, pointing out that “ figures from towns and villages in Damascus Countryside communicate with other parties almost daily to achieve reconciliations and settlements”.

The governor of Damascus countryside considered that the national reconciliation reflects the national unity among Syrians.

On September 16th, the legal status of 104 wanted persons from Homs city and its countryside was settled after they had earlier turned themselves in.
