Cairo, SANA- The 3rd Workshop for the Arab States Affected by Remnants of War, was held in Cairo with the participation of 14 countries including Syria.
Head of the Egyptian Armed Forces’ Engineering Authority Maj. Gen. Mahmoud Nassar stressed, in a speech during the opening of the workshop, the necessity of unifying international efforts for combating the dangerous phenomenon of remnants of war which threatens the nations and undermines the stability and development.
The five-day workshop will discuss many research papers that aim at coming up with constructive recommendations in the domains of training and mine-clearing based on experiments and experiences from Egypt and other brotherly and friendly countries.
The recommendations of the workshop will be also according to the pan-Arab and international standards in dealing with the problem of mines and explosive war remnants depending on modern technological and technical regulations and means
used in this domain.
The workshop will wrap up activities with a practical statement on the field skills of the Egyptian military engineers.
The opening session of the workshop was attended by UNDP Resident Representative in Egypt Ignacio Artaza.
