Damascus, SANA – Five civilians were killed and dozens were injured, some of them women and children, in a series of terrorist mortar attacks on neighborhoods in Damascus on Friday night.
A source at the Police Command told SANA that two mortar shells fired by terrorists fell in al-Duwaila’a neighborhood in Damascus, claiming the lives of 4 civilians and injuring 25.
The source said five more shells fell in the neighborhoods of al-Qasa’a, Bab Touma, al-Qaimariye, and al-Hamidiye, killing one civilian and injuring 12 who were rushed to hospitals.
The attacks also caused material damages to homes and cars.
A source at Damascus Hospital told SANA that the ER received the bodies of 3 civilians who were killed in the attacks, including a 15-year-old girl, and that 25 people who sustained injuries from shrapnel were treated at the ER, adding that 4 of them are children between the ages of 2 and 3, in addition to four women.
Earlier on Friday, two civilians were injured after armed terrorist groups launched mortar shells on Marouna and Harasta in Damascus Countryside province.
A source at the province’s Police Command told SANA reporter that terrorists fired 5 mortar shells on Marouna and one on Harasta, causing the injury of two civilians and material damage to the properties in the targeted areas.
Also earlier, a source at the Police Command told SANA that terrorists fired a mortar on al- Manakhlyeh in Damascus’ Old City, causing only material damage.
