Sweida Summer Festival kicks off

Sweida, SANA Activities of Sweida Summer brings us Together festival kicked off Saturday at Qaysariye Shaqqa Square in Sweida Province.

The 5-day festival includes cultural, artistic, entertainment, sport activities and shopping markets distributed to a number of areas.

Those festivals, held by the Ministry of Tourism, embody the Syrian people’s will of life, resilience, steadfastness and intention to continue the process of culture and civilization, Assistance tourism Minister Reda Ziyadeh said at the opening ceremony, adding that they also contribute to activating internal tourism and interaction of the local community.

Referring to Sweida’s richness of archeological and historical sites and tourist potentials, Ziyadeh stressed that the Ministry will present 4 sites for tourist investment; including Sahwat al- Balatah, Ateel, Shahba and Qermatah Palaces in

Daher al-Jabal during the upcoming Tourist Investment Forum scheduled on September.

For his part, Director of A to Z Company for Exhibition and Festivals Imad Bsharah said that the festival aims at displaying the cultural image of Syrian, particularly Sweida Province through shedding the light on the customs and cultural
traditions in the province in addition to the unique archeological and tourist sites in it.

Bsharah added that the festival was held in coincidence with the Syrian Arab Army Day to show appreciation of the sacrifices and heroism of this army in defending the homeland against terrorism.

The activities of the first day of the festival included the opening of a shopping market, traditional and folkloric shows, honoring ceremonies of the martyrs families and the excellent students of the preparatory and secondary schools in addition to other various activities.

The festival was organized by the Ministry of Tourism in cooperation with the A To Z Company for Organizing Exhibitions and Festivals.
