New York, SANA – Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Bashar al-Jaafari stressed Wednesday that the Syrian government supports all efforts leading to solve the crisis in Syria and considers fighting terrorism as a priority.
“We have affirmed to the UN Special Envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura that fighting terrorism is necessary and priority for Syria,” al-Jaafari told journalists at the UN headquarters, adding that “If dealing with terrorism isn’t as it should be, then other processes and tracks will not be important.”
“Syria wants to achieve peaceful solution and settlement, to put an end to the terrorists flowing into Syria through controlling Syrian Turkish borders, and to pressure Israel to stop supporting terrorists on Golan front,” al-Jaafari stated.
De Mistura called, at a Security Council meeting held earlier Wednesday, for adopting a new approach to solve the crisis in Syria, mainly holding talks on specified topics among the Syrians, including “combating terrorism and establishing an international communication group”.
