Iran calls for holding terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq accountable for their crimes

Tehran, SANA – Iranian Defense Minister Brig. Gen. Hossein Dehghan called for holding the terrorist group known as the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) accountable for the war crimes and barbaric actions in Syria and Iraq.

In a speech during a meeting on Monday, Dehghan said that ISIS is committing war crimes in Syria and Iraq, murdering innocent civilians, stealing resources, destroying infrastructure, committing summary executions, and displacing thousands, while those who claim to uphold human rights and international organizations turn a blind eye.

He said that the crimes of ISIS will eventually affect its allies and those who support it, and that its sole purpose is to create a safe environment for the Zionist entity and weaken the resistance.

Dehghan stressed the unity for bolstering unity in Iraq.

In the same context, member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee at the Iranian Shura Council Ismail Kawthari said in a statement that the US, the Zionist entity, and the Saudi regime are the ones controlling ISIS, and that ISIS wouldn’t have dared to act as it does without having received a green light from them.
