Hasaka, SANA – The Social Affairs Department of Hasaka distributed over the past week about 13,608 food packages and 179,000 non-food packages to families displaced from the southern neighborhoods of Hasaka city after the latest ISIS onslaught.
The aid supplies are provided by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the World Food Program (WFP).
Issam al-Hussein, the Department’s director, told SANA that the targeted families were those displaced from Hasaka city to the cities and areas of Qamishli, Amouda, al-Dirbasiyeh, Ras al-Ayn, al-Malikiyeh and al-Yaroubiyeh, noting that the aid was distributed via the main distribution centers and charity associations.
ISIS attack on Hasaka city, which started two weeks ago, displaced around 14,000 families, the majority of whom were accommodated in makeshift residential centers and supplied with their basic needs.
