Homs governor discusses with WHO activating joint cooperation in health sector

Homs, SANA- Homs Governor Talal al-Barazi discussed on Wednesday with Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) Elizabeth Hoff and her accompanying delegation means to activate joint cooperation in health sector.

The governor affirmed during the meeting that coordinating with WHO will support the health centers in the areas that displaced people are retuning to, calling for supporting al-Qusseir, al-Hussn and Old Homs to offer health services for citizens and encourage displaced people who left their houses due to terrorist attacks to go back to their areas.

Al-Barazi said that the health sector in Homs province suffered big losses due to terrorist attacks, with its national hospital becoming dysfunctional which was providing around 50% of the health services in the province.

He expressed the governorate’s readiness to offer all necessary facilitations for WHO for its services to reach citizens in all areas, pointing out that the percentage of the international organizations’ implemented programs in the province hit 100 %.

Hoff pointed out that the visit aims to inspect the organization’s health projects and have a look into province’ needs, adding that WHO basic job is to support citizens with health needs in all areas.

Last week, Homs governor met a delegation from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) mission in Syria and discussed with them means of joint cooperation and ways to meet the needs of the locals.
