Damascus, SANA-People’s Assembly re-elected Mr. Mohammad Jihad al-Laham as its speaker in a voting held on Sunday, having 203 votes out of 217 with 11 white papers and 3 invalid ones.
Following the voting process, al-Laham called on members of the parliament to promote performance of the work up to the level of the Syrian people’s sacrifices in the war against terrorism.
He also referred to the importance of expressing “the voice of the Syrian people and meeting their aspirations and hope in restoring security and stability to the Homeland.”
Al-Laham added that the role of the Assembly is not only restricted to the legislative affair, but it gives attention to monitor the performance of the government and expanding the scope of national reconciliation.
