8 drug pushers arrested, 13 kg of Hashish, 1049 Captagon pills seized

Damascus, SANA – The Drugs Combating Department of Damascus arrested 8 drug pushers in the city and countryside, according to the Interior Ministry.

Over 13 kg of Hashish and 1049 Captagon tablets were seized with the persons arrested, who also had a light machine gun and a pistol in their possession.

On May 11th, the Department seized a food truck in Damascus loaded with a ton of Hashish meant to be smuggled outside the country and arrested its driver.

A day before, 9 people who had in their possession over 15 kg of Hashish were arrested.

Syria is a signatory to all the international conventions relating to drugs control and combating, including the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs of 1961 and the United Nations Convention against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances of 1988.
