Beirut, SANA – Greek Orthodox Patriarch John X Yaziji of Antioch and All the East called for supporting Syria in the face of the terrorist war waged against it since 2011, renewing call for a political solution.
“We pray for Syria that is bearing the brunt of terrorism and extremism and destruction of ruins,” said Patriarch Yaziji during a mass at the monastery of Our Lady of Balamand in Beirut.
He called on the peoples of the world to look at what is taking place in Syria from a humanitarian perspective.
“We appeal to everyone to resort to the logic of dialogue and peaceful political solution out of mercy unto mankind,” the Patriarch said.
He questioned the “suspicious international silence” on the case of the two Aleppo bishops John Ibrahim and Paul Yaziji who are still missing after they were abducted by terrorist organizations in Aleppo countryside in April 2013.
