Damascus, SANA – In response to statements by the Turkish Foreign Minister on providing air support to terrorists in Syria, Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad said that any country that considers providing support to terrorist organizations are committing aggression against Syria.
In statements to al-Mayadeen TV on Tuesday, Mikdad said that the Turkish official’s statements are further proof of Turkey’s direct support for terrorist organizations via funding and arming, adding that they also show intentions of extending the conflict, causing more killing of innocents and more destruction.
He added that Syria, through its armed forces, will confront all forms of terrorism, calling on the international community and Security Council to assume their responsibilities and stop supporting the terrorist organizations which contradict with relevant Security Council resolutions.
The statements in question were made by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in Seoul, with him saying that there’s a preliminary agreement between Turkey and the U.S. to provide air support to terrorists under the pretense of “supporting moderate opposition.”
