Arab Teachers Union meets in Damascus to show support to Syria

Damascus, SANA – Delegations from 12 Arab countries will be taking part in the 19th general conference of the Union of Arab Teachers (UAT) that will be held in Damascus on Sunday.

Damascus was chosen as the venue to hold the 19th session to show support to Syria, said Secretary General of the UAT Faraj al-Murtada in a press conference on Saturday.

He added that the aim of holding the conference, which was called for by the Arab organizations under the UAT, is to bring the Union back to life after a halt prompted by the changes in the Arab arena.

The message of holding the conference in Damascus, which was decided at the Beirut meeting of the Consultative Board, which involves those organizations and the UAT General-Secretariat, last year was to express the Union’s solidarity with Syria in the face of the terrorist war waged against it, according to al-Murtada.

It is also to “say to the Syrians that all the Arab people stand by them under the circumstances they are going through and by all of the Arab issues,” the Secretary General said.

An art exhibition dubbed “Syria Is Winning” will be held as part of the activities of the 3-day conference, in addition to other events related to the Union’s affairs.
