Damascus, SANA The first screening of “A Homeland March” film, which documents the march of the Syrian Arab Army since the foundation of this army following the defeat of the French occupation forces in 1946 till now, was shown at Damascus Opera House on Tuesday.
It is a pleasure to open the first long documentary film about the Syrian Arab Army, as the General Organization of Cinema has previously screened the huge sacrifices of this great army in more than a film, but the appearance of the army in those films was sectional and partial, while today we are in front of a full film, Mohamad al-Ahmad, Director General of the General Establishment of Cinema said.
Al-Ahmad added that the film narrates the march of this undaunted heroic army since the heroism of martyr Yousef al-Azmah.
The film tells the story of the sacrifices of the army in October Liberation War and its role in confronting all attempts to hurt the dignity of the Arab Nation. It also highlighted the steadfastness of our brave soldiers in their battle against terrorism, which is pumping thousands of terrorist mercenaries from all the countries of the world to Syria every day.
The prelude of A Homeland’s March, film included chanting the Syrian anthem by the Army band. Then the band played the martyr’s greeting and farewell and chanted a national song.
The film was produced by the Cinema Organization in cooperation with the political administration of the Army and Armed Forces.
The 2-hour film touched upon one of the epics of the Syrian people represented by a plentiful record of sacrifices presented by the army, through a remarkable documentary scenario written by scenarist Mahmoud Abdel-Karim.
The film reviews the establishment of the army following the victory of the Great Arab Revolution and the entrance of King Fayssal to Syria, thus holding the Syrian Conference in 1919 in the Syrian village of Bloudan as the army was consisted of revolutionists who came from all the Syrian villages, towns and cities to face the Ottoman occupation and confront the crime perpetrated by Jamal Bacha
known as the Butcher and the execution of a number of Nationalists in Syria and Lebanon by the Butcher.
Mixing fiction with documentary material, through an influential vision, the film recited the confrontation of the revolutionist Yousef al-Azmeh and comrades, accompanied with about 3000 members of the Syrian Army, against the French occupation forces in July 1920.
The film went on to depict the events happened during the Great Syrian Revolution, the revolutionists battles against the French occupation forces in Lattakia, al-Zawiya mountain, Horan Plain, al-Jazira, Damascus, Aleppo, Sweida led by Saleh al-Ali in the coastal mountains and By Sultan Batcha al-Atrash in the Arab Mountain in 1925 who issued To Arms to Arms declaration.
It also talked about the heroism of this army following independence in 1946, narrating its heroism in the war against the Zionist gangs in the Arab occupied territories.
Homeland March, also, sheds light on the role of the Army in building the modern state and facing the US conspiracies and schemes, among them the Eisenhower Project.
The army’s support to Egypt during the tripartite aggression in 1956 was also screened, as martyr Joul Jammal bombed the French Jeanne d’Arc battleship near the Alexandria shores.
In an impressive vision, the film screened the bravery of the Syrian soldiers in the battlefield acted by an army unit in facing terrorist hideout, coupling between the documentary and dramatic materials.
The film crowned its touching narration by talking about heroism of the Syrian army in the Liberation war of October led by Late President Hafez al-Assad and the battles to liberate Quneitra and the observation post of Mount Hermon (Jabal al-Shaykh) side by side with the Egyptian Army .
The film also presented a remarkable historical documentation of the role of the army in the establishment of the resistance movement in Lebanon and occupied Palestine.
It also highlighted the July war 2006 and the capability of this army in supporting the resistance.
The film portrayed the sacrifices of all members of the Syrian army in defending the homeland against the Takfiri terrorists’ gangs and their allied groups, financed and supported by Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the US.
