Tartous, SANA – The monthly shopping festival for May, organized by the Damascus Chamber of Industry as part of the Live Syria 2015 campaign in cooperation with Tartous Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was opened on Friday at the Sports Complex in Tartous city.
55 Syrian companies that produce food, detergents, clothing, perfumes, and other consumer products are participating in the festival, which will be concluded on May 7th.
Chairman of Damascus Chamber of Industry Samer al-Debs said that the festival seeks to boost the consumers’ confidence in local products by providing goods directly from producers at discounts of up to 65%.
In turn, Chairman of Tartous Chamber of Commerce and Industry Wahib Murrei said that such initiatives by Syrian industrialists help the people cope with the rising prices and bolster national economy.
A number of representatives of participating companies said the fact that participants are choosing to provide discounts and special offers instead of focusing on making profits gives hope in the possibility of curbing rises in prices, and that such events help producers and consumers interact directly without mediation and third parties.
The first monthly shopping festival was held in April at al-Jala’a Sports Complex in Damascus. Six more festivals are scheduled to be held each month in different provinces throughout 2015.
Live Syria 2015 is an initiative that will continue throughout the year with the participation of individuals, establishments, and companies from the public and private sectors with the aim of providing facilitations and services to people and improve their living standards.
